Lauchapra reserve forest is a unique place at
India-Bangladesh border.............
This is one of the fewer places in
Bangladesh should have got more publicity. It is located 250 km from Dhaka in
the bakshiganj upazila of sherpur district.We went to Sherpur
from Mohakhali Bus terminal <Shoukhin Poribahan, costing 300/person>;
after reaching Sherpur <journey will take atleast 6 hrs>; from Sherpur to
Bokshigonj <Jamalpur> -- by CNG : will cost 50 taka perperson, will take
1 hour, then Bokshigonj to Dhanua kamalpur again by CNG, will cost per CNG
150/- and will take 25 mins; or you can directly go to Dhanua Kamalpur from
Sherpur by CNG - will cost 500/- n will take 1.5 hrs.
Then, you have to stay in Dhanua Kamalpur Upazilla Porishod VIP Dak Banglo <contact person -- Mr. Quddus, 01747643499>. At evening you can visit Danua Kamalpur Pathor Kata BOP, it’s reallya quite n nice BOP to visit, there you can stay till sunset.
Early in the next morning, you need to hire a VAN <for per 3 person> to visit Lauchapra Reserve Forest area. It will cost 250/- per Van, and will drop you at Korno Jhora. From Korno Jhora, you have to more to Sree Bordi by Nosimon <also known as Votvoti>. After taking you lunch, you have to move to Sherpur by CNG again and will cost 300/- per CNG <6-7 person> and can return to Dhaka by Bus.
Alternatively, you can go to Danua Kamalpur from Mohakhali by Rifad Poribahan <but only one bus at morning> and can come back to Dhaka directly from Dhanua Kamalpur by same bus service.
Hope these will help you to visit Lauchapra. Though, the journey is bit tiring, but green beauty of forest n Hill will over compensate those hard efforts.
